Because it offered an enjoyable tale that could be read quickly while easily explaining a few simple keys. In the end, I felt 3 stars was a fair rating because I did walk away with something in the end. Just because you disagree with the “insights” doesn’t mean it’s a 1 star book, people.

The writing was poor, the storyline marginally engaging, and the research into Christianity lacking, which made the last few chapters sketchy as the plot collapsed on weak argument.

I have learned with time that one can always find profound truths in myths and allegories. Is this a synopsis? For instance, for me it would have made more sense for each chapter to be dedicated to one of the insights, the beginning of the chapter quickly summarising what it is about and then telling the story of how the author came to learn that insight.
It makes it way less boring to read. I reluctantly read it.
